Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of my most frequently asked questions about me, the services I offer and what I teach.

If you have more questions, feel free to book a Free Introductory Call or shoot me an email!

What are your qualifications?

I am a certified sleep consultant for infants and toddlers 0-4 years old. I was certified through “Baby Sleep Consultant” based in New Zealand. I also studied infant and child development at university and received my Associate’s Degree on top of years of childcare experience and a deep love for babies and sleep!

What kinds of problems can you help with?

I can help with a wide variety of sleep problems. I’ll try to name as many as I can! Short naps, early morning wake ups, getting on a schedule, changing the schedule, dropping naps, false starts at bedtime, overnight wake ups, nutrition affecting sleeping, dropping overnight feeds, sleep regressions, keeping toddlers in their bed, bedtime battles, split nights, teaching self settling skills (sleep training), moving away from contact naps/feeding to sleep, and more.

What kinds of services do you offer?

I offer phone consultations, online classes and one on one support packages.

Where are you located and how can we get in touch?

I am located in the United States but I can help families all over the world! If you sign up for a consultation and you’re outside of the U.S., we will have a Zoom call instead of a phone call and any text support will be via What’s App or email. My classes are available everywhere as well! If you’re trying to get in touch, feel free to send me an email, emmacollett729@gmail.com.

What are your sleep classes like and what is included?

I currently have four sleep classes available. 0-16 weeks, 4-7 months, 8-12 months and 12-18 months. Each class is taught by me, ready to purchase and download right now! I walk through sleep expectations and common problems for this age group. For the 4-18 month sleep classes I teach two different sleep training techniques, and for the newborn class I teach a technique for gradually practicing independent sleep. All classes come with multiple sample schedules for the age group for you to reference and print. I also have a short early morning wake ups class available!

What things can you help me with on a phone consultation?

I currently have two phone consultations available. One is a free 15 minute introductory call which you can book to ask questions about the support packages I offer and what I teach. The second one is  a 30 minute phone consultation that can be booked as many times as you need to troubleshoot with me and get advice and help. I can refresh you on sleep training techniques if you’ve done it in the past or help you fine tune the technique you’ve been using. I can help with early morning wake ups, dropping overnight feeds, fixing changes in schedule and generally give tips on most other sleep problems.

What does it look like to work with you one on one in a support package?

When you book a support package, the first thing I do is send you a questionnaire to fill out. I use the information on this questionnaire to help me write a customized sleep plan for your child where I address the specific problems they’re experiencing and any changes or training we are going to do. Once the plan is completed, we have a call together via Zoom where we go over the whole plan and make sure you understand and are feeling confident! The different levels of packages come with a certain amount of support to help you stick to the plan and to answer questions as you go. Each package also comes with access to all my sleep classes for two years. Feel free to book a free introductory call or send me an email if you have questions about if this is right for you!

Do you teach "Cry it Out" sleep training techniques?

In my experience, all sleep training techniques do involve a bit of crying because children are often frustrated they're not going to sleep they are used to. We're changing sleep associations, and that can lead to some protesting! BUT I do absolutely everything I can to limit how much crying there is when we work together or you take one of my classes. I put a lot of emphasis on setting the stage for your child to be successful so they can catch on quickly. Sleep training when done correctly will not impact your child's attachment to you because you are being consistent with them and building their confidence in themselves. Sleep training is simply taking a step back and allowing your child to learn some self settling skills! That being said, I always do give you the option to do either a technique where you stay in the room or do check ins depending on which you're most comfortable. I will help you choose what technique will work best with your child's temperament and personality.

How do I know what to choose?!

My advice for this is simply choose how much support you’re wanting. If you are good at following directions and your child’s sleep problems are mild to moderate, my sleep classes or a 30 minute phone consultation are probably all you need! Each will come with the information you need to succeed. If you’re feeling like your child's sleep problems are moderate to difficult or you really just want the support and a space to ask questions and get reassurance, then you should absolutely book a support package. It’s designed so I can be there for you every step of the way to support you the best I can. If you ever have questions before you book you can shoot me an email or book a free introductory call!
